Hi, I’m Lena Mumma, Founder & CEO of Eco Peaceful, LLC. After watching documentaries about plastic, I was shocked at how plastic affects wildlife & humans. Silicone products are a very versatile, durable and reusable alternative to plastic, so after finding out that the silicone lids & silicone Stasher zip lock bags that I bought on Amazon are made from silicone that does not pass pinch test (white shows through), source: The New York Times. I got upset, so I decided to investigate, I questioned many silicone manufacturers what are they adding into the silicone. Some manufacturers did not want to share their manufacturing practices, yet some admitted to adding fillers into their FDA standard silicone (which is allowed by FDA!) Based on this info I did not feel comfortable using inferior silicone products, especially in microwave and/or freezer.
